Description: Park-like oceanfront setting overlooking the fabulous white sand of Crabtrap Beach on the west side of Sidney Island. This lot offers spectacular sunsets and outstanding views over Sidney Channel, Mount Douglas, James Island and the basking seals at Munroe Rock. At night you can enjoy the distant southwest view of the twinkling lights of Victoria.
This spacious, sunny lot has been prepared and is ready for your building ideas. Vegetation has been selectively cleared and the property sown to grass beneath the remaining stands of huge fir and arbutus trees. The driveway has been constructed and the septic system has been installed.
The west side of the island offers shelter from any NE and SE breezes. The homesteading farmers loved this part of the island and chose to build the original 100-year old farm buildings near this area. The apple orchard on the common property is close by, it is awesome to watch the wild turkeys, peacocks and deer that like to congregate here. Also close by is the precious Dragonfly Ponds conservation zone.
This lot is cleared of most deadfall, which allows you to walk everywhere on the property to choose the most desirable building site, a driveway has already been constructed. Because of the height above the beach there is a geo-tech setback for the building site. The lot is bright, and a very gentle westerly slope with a carpet of grass beneath the stands of huge fir, cedar and arbutus trees.

Water taxi service is available from the Port of Sidney Marina and arrangements can be made for the water taxi to pick people up near the BC Ferry terminal at Schwartz Bay, so you can walk on the ferry and easily get to Sidney Island. Please contact Dave Cochlan or Rich Osborne to make an appointment to view the island.
Area Data: Sidney Island: Unique in British Columbia, perhaps the world, Sidney Island offers the rare combination of ownership of superb waterfront property with a model of sustainable forestry, limited development of common areas, precious conservation zones and miles of sand beaches. It is blessed with a Mediterranean like climate, warm summers, mild winters and less than 30 inches annual rainfall. Not only is it one of the most picturesque, but the last major undeveloped island in the Gulf Islands chain. From every part of the Island there are breathtaking views. To the south the perennial snow covered Olympic Range, to the east the perfect cone of Mt. Baker and the jagged peaks of the Cascades.
